Dr. Qiufeng Wang, Professor, the Head of Department of Intelligent Science at School of Advanced Technology, and Deputy Dean of Academy of Artificial Intelligence (AOA), in Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). He received the Ph.D degree in Pattern Recognition and Intelligence Systems from Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASIA) in July 2012, and won Presidential Scholarship of Chinese Academy of Sciences. During 2012 to 2013, he worked as an Assistant Professor at the National Laboratory of Pattern Recognition (NLPR) in CASIA . During 2013 to 2017, he worked at Microsoft and joined in XJTLU in Feb. 2017.; His research interests include pattern recognition, machine learning, and language modeling, more specially, the document analysis and recognition. Dr. Wang has published 70+ papers, including IEEE T-PAMI, and published one book about deep learning in Springer. His research has been supported by both government and industry, including NSFC young programme, NSFC general programme, and CCF-Tencent.

Xiaobo Jin Senior Associate Professor
Xiaobo Jin’s research interests include machine learning, internet mining, and computer vision. He earned his Ph.D. in Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Systems from the National Laboratory of Pattern Recognition and Intelligence Systems from Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His teaching experience encompasses courses in programming, algorithm design and data structures, and image and vision. He has published over 70 papers in journals and conferences, including IEEE Transactions on NNLS, TIP, ICLR, CVPR, ECAI, ICDM, ACCV, Pattern Recognition, Information Sciences, IEEE Access, Cognitive Computation, Neucomputation, and ICPR. He has led two National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) projects (U1804159, 61103138) and participated in four others. As a leader or co-leader, he has achieved first place in internet big data classification and content quality assessment competitions, such as the Web Spam Challenge 2007/2008, ECML 2010 Discovery Challenge, and Baidu Cup Challenge 2016. In 2021, he was awarded the title of Young and Middle-Aged Academic Leader in Jiangsu Province’s Qing-Lan Project.
Xi Yang Associate Professor
Dr Xi Yang is currently an Associate Professor at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. She received PhD degree, B.Sc. degree and M.Sc. degree with distinction from the University of Liverpool, U.K.. Her research interests lie in the field of Bayesian probabilistic approaches to machine learning, pattern recognition and deep learning. She has recently worked on Domain Generalization and Adaptation, Text-Image Synthesis, Outlier Detection,? and Medical Image Analysis.? Dr. Yang has published over 40 papers including international authoritative journals and conferences such as IEEE T- Cybernetics,? IEEE T-KDE, Pattern Recognition, NeurIPS,CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, AAAI, etc..? Her research has received support from both government and industry, such as NSFC Young programme, and? NSFC Major-cultivation? programme. She was honored as a Jiangsu Province Innovation & Entrepreneurship Doctor in 2020 and received the Outstanding Talent in Science and Education Award in 2022.
Professor Kaizhu Huang
Professor with tenure at Duke Kunshan University, adjunct professor and P.h.D advisor at Wuhan University, and visiting professor at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. He has previously served as a visiting professor at the University of Stirling and an agreement professor at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2004. In 2006, he was awarded the President’s Award from the Fujitsu Research Institute. In 2011, he received the Young Scientist Award from the Asia-Pacific Neural Network Society. In 2014, he was awarded the High-level Talent Award for Urgently Needed Positions from Colleges and Research Institutions in Suzhou. He has won multiple best paper or nomination awards at AI conferences both domestically and internationally, including the 2024 IEEE ICDM 10-Year Highest Impact Paper Award. From December 2004 to September 2012, he held positions at the Fujitsu Research Center, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the University of Bristol, and the National Laboratory of Pattern Recognition at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. His main research interests are in trustworthy AI, machine learning, and pattern recognition. He currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Elsevier CSSI and as a senior associate editor or associate editor for four renowned international journals. He has published one English-language monograph on machine learning, edited eight English volumes, and holds over 30 patents. To date, he has published over 260 academic papers in leading international journals or conferences, including IEEE-TPAMI, IEEE-TIP, IEEE-TNNLS, JMLR, NeurIPS, ICCV, AAAI, CVPR, ICML, etc.
