BEng Digital Media Technology

Programming, signal and image processing, electronics and digital circuits, computer graphics and game design, and multimedia system management are just some of the technologies which you will learn about on the BEng Digital Media Technology programme.

Digital Media Technology

Overview

In the BEng Digital Media Technology programme, you will learn how computerised or electronic devices can represent, record, transmit, process, display and interact with multimedia information, such as text, audio, images, video and animations.

Computer science technologies that you will learn include programming, signal and image processing,?electronics and digital circuits, computer graphics and game design, and multimedia system management.

Studying this programme will give you a fundamental understanding of electronic engineering and computer science, with an emphasis on digital media technology.

Why should I study Digital Media Technology at XJTLU?

  • This programme has a 2+2 articulation route to BEng Computer Science and Electronic Engineering (Digital Media Technology Pathway) at the University of Liverpool;
  • The programme is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET);
  • Opportunity to articulate to the MSc Multimedia Telecommunications or MRes Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Systems programme, leading to a University of Liverpool degree. These Master programmes are extension courses for the BEng Digital Media Technology programme; and
  • Earn two degrees: an XJTLU degree from the Chinese Ministry of Education and a globally recognised degree from the University of Liverpool, a member of the Russell Group of leading UK universities.

Knowledge and skills

By the time you graduate from the BEng Digital Media Technology, you will have:

  • a broad understanding of the hardware and software that support the digital media industries;
  • an appreciation of the way hardware and software can be used creatively within the media industries; and
  • the ability to use your knowledge and skills in the development of new?tools and algorithms related to digital media and multimodal AI projects.

The BEng Digital Media Technology programme equips you with in-depth knowledge and practical applications of multimedia information, which includes text, images, audios and videos. This skillset brings you to the forefront of multimodal AI, which is changing the way we live and work.

DMT is an excellent programme with a well-designed curriculum. In this programme, I learned knowledge not only from books but also from practice, including experiments and projects. Throughout my undergraduate career, I learned about algorithms, mathematics, and electronic engineering. The courses I took laid a solid foundation for further research and study in artificial intelligence, mobile computing, computer graphics, and signal processing.
