Knowledge and skills
By the time you graduate from the BA Accounting, you will have:
- a solid understanding of the knowledge required for effective financial accounting, management accounting, financial management, data analytics, auditing, and taxation. Through a combination of lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials, computer labs, and selected optional modules, you will acquire knowledge, techniques and skills highly sought after by employers;
- the ability to apply accounting and finance-related knowledge and analytical skill in organisational contexts. This includes day-to-day operation management, cost control, business problem solving, risk assessment and control, strategy formulation, and strategic decision making; and
- the opportunity to engage in in-depth, independent case studies to put theory into practice. This will give you the chance to develop essential employability skills in research, critical thinking, time management, communication, and IT.

The BA Accounting programme at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University equips you with a solid understanding of accounting and finance-related principles, techniques, and applications required in?the?practical environment.
Beyond learning traditional courses, such as business transactions recording, bookkeeping, financial statements preparation, cost accounting, auditing, and taxation, the BA Accounting programme places significant emphasis on developing students’ comprehensive decision-making acumen, including strategic planning, leadership, corporate governance, and business ethics. Furthermore, it enhances students’ professional skills in collaboration with managers, shareholders, and other stakeholders.
Graduates are qualified for diverse career paths, including management consulting, financial sectors, government and public service, legal practice, and entrepreneurship. Moreover, this undergraduate (UG) programme provides a strong background for graduates?to pursue?further postgraduate (PG) degrees in accounting, financial management, finance, management, and other relevant disciplines.
Immersed in the unique learning environment of XJTLU, students will understand accounting practices in?both international and Chinese contexts. The programme also offers valuable opportunities to obtain accreditations from various internationally renowned professional accounting and management accounting bodies (such as ACCA, ICAEW, CPA Australia, ISCA, CIMA, CMA, etc.). Upon completion of specific modules, graduates can claim up to 9 exemptions from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA); 8 exemptions from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW); 6 exemptions from Certified Practising Accountants Australia (CPA Australia); 5 exemptions from the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA); and 8 exemptions from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), etc.
