CIE & HeXie Academy Host ESG Entrepreneurs Salon Round-table

May 29, the "ESG Entrepreneurs Salon Round-table" was successfully held at the?Sungent?Zero Carbon Pavilion in Suzhou Industrial Park. The event was hosted by the College of Industry-Entrepreneurs (CIE) & HeXie Management Research Centre (HeXie Academy) of Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), with support from the Suzhou Industrial Park Corporate Sustainability Promotion Association, the Suzhou Corporate Sustainability Development Association, RoadShareOne Consulting, and the Advanced Manufacturing Club (AMC).

Focusing on the theme “Strategic Reconstruction of Global Sustainable Supply Chains under the Tariff War Landscape”, the event brought together experts and scholars from government, industry, academia, and research, as well as corporate representatives and leaders of industrial organizations, to explore innovative applications and practical pathways for ESG strategies in enterprise transformation.

As the main organizer, CIE and the HeXie Academy emphasized the vital role of universities in advancing industry-education integration and the practical implementation of ESG principles. Dr. Binqi Tang from CIE and the HeXie Academy at XJTLU noted in his opening remarks that universities are not only hubs of knowledge dissemination but also play a crucial role in supporting corporate sustainability. CIE is committed to offering forward-thinking ESG strategy guidance and practical support through deep industry-academic-research collaboration.

The event was moderated by Ms. Wen Qian, an external mentor of XJTLU and Chair of the ESG Committee. Mr. Wenjie Li, Deputy Director of the Suzhou Industrial Park City Development Research Institute, emphasized the importance of integrating sustainability into global supply chains to enhance resilience. Mr. Minxiang Gao, Secretary-General of the Suzhou Corporate Sustainability Development Association, stressed that industry organizations will support enterprises in building sustainable governance systems through collaboration and resource sharing. Ms. Kun Wang, Deputy Director of Admissions & Career Services and the Alumni Office at XJTLU, highlighted that ESG serves as both a core business strategy and a key link in talent development and regional sustainability.

During the keynote session, Dr. Chenyang He from CIE and the HeXie Academy at XJTLU delivered a speech titled "Exploring the Integration of Industry, Academia, and Research in the ESG Field", delving into how universities can bridge research and teaching with corporate practice to promote ESG knowledge transfer and capacity building. Dr. He’s insights showcased CIE’s deep expertise in ESG and offered a replicable model for industry-academic-research cooperation.

The roundtable featured diverse perspectives and experiences from enterprises and industry organizations. Mr. Rui Yin, Global Supply Chain Director at Flex China, Ms. Junmei Liang from RoadShareOne Consulting, and Mr. Donghua Liu from Kenex shared practical approaches to ESG implementation in supply chain management, global benchmarking, and localized practices. Mr. Hongbin Guo from China Louis International discussed how leading enterprises can drive upstream and downstream ESG value co-creation, while Mr. Haihua Chen from WIT Assessment (Jiangsu) emphasized the importance of standardized and verifiable ESG frameworks.

In the open discussion session, moderated by Mr. Chao Li, Secretary-General of the Advanced Manufacturing Club, representatives from various manufacturing sectors engaged in in-depth exchanges on topics such as ESG governance, green procurement, and employee engagement mechanisms.

Distinguished guests such as Mr. Chunjian Zhang (Director of the Health, Safety and Environment Department and Deputy Party Secretary at BOSCH Suzhou), Mr. Beijing Zhang (General Manager of Operations at Decathlon Suzhou Factory), Mr. Labing Chen (Manager of Plant Affairs and Regional Safety (China) at OPmobility), Mr. Xinmin Zhao (Deputy General Manager at Shanghai Industrial ?Technology Research Institute), Mr. Bin Pan (General Manager at Chengtong Securities Suzhou Office), Mr. Yongsheng Wang (Technical Director of KONE Elevator Kunshan Branch), and Mr. Mengyuan Jin (General Manager of Wujiang Yuanpai Textile Technology) shared their experiences and reflections on ESG governance, cross-border systems integration, and sustainability in practice. The event concluded with a summary by Ms. Rong Xu from the?ESG?Research?Center?at? Suzhou Industrial Park ?Urban?Development?Research?Institute , who affirmed the significance and impact of the round-table.

As a token of appreciation, Dr. Binqi Tang presented attendees with signed copies of “What Management Could Be and Do” by Professor Youmin Xi, Executive President of XJTLU, underscoring the university’s commitment to advancing management innovation and sustainable development.

Following the meeting, all participants toured the?Sungent Zero Carbon Pavilion to experience firsthand the region’s achievements in green technology and sustainable innovation.

The round-table provided a high-quality platform for cross-sector exchange and collaboration. The event brought together diverse insights and practical experiences, sparking in-depth dialogue on the implementation of ESG principles in supply chain management. Looking ahead, the Academy and HeXie Academy will continue to integrate academic resources, industry intelligence, and corporate needs to explore ESG-driven collaboration and governance models, helping regional enterprises thrive in an increasingly green, intelligent, and sustainable global environment.
