    活动简介

Among various types of Fe-phases, y-Fe (antiferromagnetic/ferromagnetic, face-centered-cubic, FCC) has recently attracted significant attention when stabilized inside carbon nanotubes (CNTs), especially for applications in spintronics, exchange-bias-devices and nanomedicine. In this talk, I will present some of the recent results obtained by employing in-situ nanofabrication- and manipulation-methods, based on the sublimation and pyrolysis of ferrocene, for the controlled stabilization of this phase. Selective stabilization of ferromagnetically-ordered nanocrystal-phases (Fe3C, a-Fe, y-Fe) is demonstrated by tuning the synthesis and cooling parameters. In these nanoscale systems, layered antiferromagnetism may result from the nucleation of crystalline junctions between ferromagnetic-phases, within nanowires. The dynamics of nano-junction nucleation are of importance towards the development of exchange-bias devices and will be discussed by referring to high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) analyses. The presented results open new avenues towards the manipulation of the y-Fe phase into CNTs, offering perspective for tunable ferromagnetic to antiferromagnetic transformations through interstitial carbon migration.
